Marco Rocca is an old school wine producer. Without modern technology, he presses excellent Barbaresco wines in a traditional style.
The La Ca Növa winery is located just outside the municipality of Barbaresco. Marco Rocca, the owner, produces uncomplicated and classic wines. He is a very humble man who carries out the daily work in the vineyard with great experience and consistency. It thus creates the prerequisite for being able to produce grapes of optimum quality.
Marco is an old-school winemaker, shaped by the tradition and culture of the region. So he produces his wines with almost no modern technology. The fermentation takes place without temperature controlled tanks and only with natural yeasts. As before, Marco uses open wooden vats. Tumbling of the mash during maceration is then done with a large wooden spoon. A very tedious and time-consuming process, but it extracts more color and polyphenols.
With a production of around 50,000 bottles of wine per year, Marco's priority is his three different Barbaresco wines. Two of them are single site wines, coming from the Cru Montefico and Montestefano . But Marco is just as proud of his Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera wines.
The excellent Barbaresco and Nebbiolo wines from La Ca Növa can be found at Babarolo.
