Conca is the name of this vineyard located in La Morra, which with only 0.7 hectares of vineyards is one of the smallest, but at the same time one of the most renowned in the entire growing area. It serves almost entirely as Revello's home block. The name "Conca" derives from the concave shape of the vineyard, which traps heat and pampers the vines, so that the wines have a stronger structure and fleshiness than those from higher altitudes. This vineyard is claimed by 5 producers, with Revello being not only the largest landowner but also the one most committed to preserving the natural ecosystem. The vines were planted in 1954 on calcareous and clayey soil. The 0.7 hectare vineyard faces southeast and is 250 meters above sea level.
The grapes are usually harvested by hand in October and, after destemming and light pressing, are placed in horizontal rotary fermentation tanks for fermentation, where they remain on the skins for 6 to 8 days. The remaining fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks. To mature, the Barolo is then aged for 24 months in used French barriques (60%) and new barriques (40%). After six months in the bottle, the Revello Barolo Conca is then released.
The Barolo Conca is a wine with a lot of personality, which due to its geographical location produces very structured wines with a serious tannin profile , rather atypical of La Morra.
The bouquet is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and berries, accompanied by floral notes such as violets and rose petals. There are also hints of spices, tobacco, tar and a subtle mineral note. On the palate, the Ravelli Barolo Conca is powerful and structured, with well-integrated tannins and a balanced acidity. The fruit aromas continue and are complemented by nuances of dark chocolate, leather and a hint of undergrowth. The wine shows impressive length and a long-lasting finish.
The Ravelli Barolo Conca is an outstanding red wine that will delight lovers of sophisticated wines. It goes well with rich meat dishes such as roast beef, lamb chops or braised game. It is a wine for special occasions or to share and enjoy with friends and family. Drinking window: 2023-2035
