The Fratelli Barolo Cerretta 2019 grapes come from the Cerretta vineyard, located in the municipality of Serralunga D'Alba. This renowned location is known for its optimal climatic conditions and soil conditions, which allow the Nebbiolo grapes to ripen perfectly.
Harvesting by hand usually takes place in the second half of October each year. After the berries have been destemmed, they are lightly pressed and fermentation is carried out by natural yeasts and is triggered spontaneously. First, the mash is in transverse fermentation tanks, where it remains on the skins for 6 to 8 days. The alcoholic fermentation is then completed in large stainless steel containers. The subsequent malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel. The wine is aged in French barriques and lasts at least 24 months. 20% new and 80% used barriques are used. Finally, the Barolo is stored in the bottle for a good six months before it is marketed.
This 2019 vintage of Barolo Cerretta is characterized by a deep red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it develops an intense and complex bouquet with aromas of ripe cherries, dark berries, violets, spices and a subtle mineral note. On the palate, the Barolo Cerretta is powerful and structured.
The tannins are present but well integrated, giving the wine excellent balance. The fruitiness of the grapes harmonizes with the spicy and floral notes, while the mineral elements give the wine a certain freshness. The finish is long-lasting and reminiscent of dark chocolate and spices. Ready to drink: immediately - 2040
