Family owned for over 120 years
The Claudio Alario winery is located just outside and idyllically situated on a hill that belongs to the Barolo commune of Diano d'Alba. Due to the nature of the soil, this municipality is synonymous with both authentic Dolcetto , and excellent Barolo wines. Claudio Alario, together with his family, operates integrated viticulture and presses artisan wines from both grape varieties, with which he has made a name for himself in Piedmont and also internationally.

Claudio Alario - Lifelong passion for viticulture
Even as a child, Claudio helped at the winery and, above all, looked over his grandfather's shoulder. This attachment to the land and the land has never stopped with him. Claudio has spent his entire life working in the interplay between nature, climate and man to produce authentic wines that he could be proud of. His focus is on indigenous grape varieties such as Barbera,Dolcetto and Nebbiolo, which he has learned to understand like no other. Even when weather conditions in difficult years present great challenges to winemakers, Claudio has always managed to produce excellent wines with his tireless energy, knowledge and experience.
Wonderfully located winery
The Langhe provides the spectacular backdrop for the 120-year history of the Alario family winery. Claudio Alario and his family make their home in the municipality of Diano d'Alba. They are passionate about viticulture, adding more chapters to the long family history.
In 1988, Claudio, coming directly from agricultural school, took over the business from his father. However, Claudio already had many years of practical experience behind him. From a very young age, he spent every free minute working with his father and grandfather in the vineyard. Especially the work with his grandfather in the vineyard had a great impact on him.
Specialist in Dolcetto and Barolo
Today, Claudio produces about 40,000 bottles of wine a year on 10 hectares. Besides Dolcetto wines, Claudio has also made a name for himself as a Barolo producer. Years ago, he bought additional vineyards in the municipalities of Verduno and Serralunga D'Alba. From the Nebbiolo grapes he presses two excellent Barolo site wines.
