Chionetti
Tradition and innovation
The Chionetti winery is located in the beautiful San Luigi Valley in the small Piedmontese town of Dogliani, which borders the Langhe wine region and is known for authentic Dolcetto wines. It is a family business with over 100 years of history history and is currently managed by Nicola Chionetti, great-grandson of the founder Giuseppe Chionetti. The Dolcetto, Nebbiolo and Barolo wines are made in a classic way but with an eye for innovation.
Chionetti - highest quality among the Dolcetto and Barolo producers
We have had a connection with this winery for two decades, ever since we met the charismatic Quinto Chionetti, grandfather of the current owner Nicola, on a visit.
It is impossible to say how many adjectives would be needed to describe Quinto, the patriarch of Dogliani. But he was a pioneer for the Langa and a symbol for Dogliani and its entire cultivation area. And he was a winemaker from another time who dedicated his whole life to this Dolcetto wine. His grandson Nicola copied a lot from him, adapted the winery to the market without denying tradition.
Through the far-sighted acquisition of some plots in the Barolo area, he has developed into a Barolo producer of excellence and thus brought his winery to a new level. With Barolo Roncaglie from La Morra, Barolo Parussi from Casteligione Falletto and Barolo Bussia Pianpolvere from Monforte D'Alba, he produces three excellent single-vineyard wines.
