Sara Vezza Barolo Ravera 2017 DOCG has a beautiful ruby red colour. The reverberation is persistent and the elegance impressive.
In the beginning it is still a bit closed on the nose, but with a little time the mineral, stony and herb-scented aromas become stronger and stronger. The tannin is extremely accessible and fine-meshed.
The Ravera vineyard in Monforte D'Alba is much higher than the Ravera Crus in Novello and Barolo. This was a shortcoming in the past, because the degree of ripeness of the berries was not always optimal due to the cooler climate.
However, this seems to have changed in recent years due to climate change. Sara Vezza and other winegrowers are benefiting from the changed conditions and have noticed a significant increase in quality.
The grapes are usually handpicked in October and the carefully selected berries are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30°/ 32°. Then the expansion begins, which initially begins for the wine in barriques and after 24 months the Barolo is then placed in a cement tank for half a year. Finally, the wine is then stored in the bottle during the final phase of aging.
We recommend red meat, roasts, game and mature cheeses as food accompaniments. This Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next ten years.
