Sara Vezza Barolo Ravera 2017 DOCG has a beautiful ruby red colour. In the beginning it is still a bit closed on the nose, but with a little time the mineral, stony and herbal aromas become stronger and stronger. The tannin is extremely accessible and fine-meshed. The reverberation is persistent and the elegance impressive.

The Ravera vineyard in Monforte D'Alba is much higher than the Ravera Crus in Novello and Barolo. This was a shortcoming in the past, because the degree of ripeness of the berries was not always optimal due to the cooler climate.

However, this seems to have changed in recent years due to climate change. Sara Vezza and other winegrowers are benefiting from the changed conditions and have noticed a significant increase in quality.

The hand picking of the grapes usually takes place in October and the carefully selected berries are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30°/ 32°. Then the expansion begins, which initially begins for the wine in barriques and after 24 months the Barolo is then placed in a cement tank for half a year. Finally, the wine is then stored in the bottle during the final phase of aging.

We recommend red meat, roasts, game and mature cheeses as food accompaniments. This Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next ten years.

The producer:   Sara Vezza

Sara Vezza is a young winemaker who has established an excellent reputation in the Barolo region. The daughter of winemakers, she has dedicated her life to two things: her family and the pursuit of sustainable, high-quality wines that reflect the terroir and culture of Piedmont.

The winery is located in the Monforte d'Alba production area, on the border between Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba, a fact that makes their Barolo wines multifaceted, since the soil conditions of these different areas are very different, but there , where the winery is located. Sara works with both innovative and traditional production methods that are both bold and elegant.

Sara has the heart of a lion and a deep understanding of the area she grew up in. She is the fifth generation of a farming family from this region and has an indestructible connection to the earth.

The winery operates organic winegrowing.

Sara's philosophy:

"We are part of a mosaic. We are not the authors of the wine, but actors of nature: we help the plants to grow, like children, and we are in touch with the vitality of the Earth, soil, vines and everything that surrounds us. Wine is a life force, rich in microorganisms that allow it to develop."
