The 2020 La Ca Növa Barbaresco is again very successful and is by far more than just an “introductory wine” for the single-vineyard wines Montestefano and Montefico. What is also interesting is that the price is still very affordable compared to other Barbaresco in the same class.
The grapes for La Ca Növa Barbaresco 2020 come from different plots of the Rocca family, all located within the municipality of Barbaresco. The grapes are harvested by hand in October and then immediately destemmed and lightly pressed. This is followed by fermentation in an open wooden vat, which lasts a maximum of 20 days. Maturation then takes place in large Austrian oak barrels, as is traditional. A six-month bottle storage then completes the maturation process.
On the nose, this Barbaresco has fragrant notes of ripe cherries, which harmonize perfectly with the scents of berry forest fruits. What is striking is an invigorating freshness and great elegance, which are then beautifully complemented in the mouth with tightly woven and finely woven tannins. The finish is long and savory .
