The grapes for this Josetta Saffirio Barolo Persiera 2017 DOCG single site wine come from the Castelletto vineyard, which belongs to the Barolo growing area of the municipality of Monforte D'Alba.
The wines from this location generally have a lot of power, have a firm tannin structure and the potential for a full-bodied, fruity and fleshy Barolo.
The hand picking of the grapes usually takes place in October and the carefully selected berries are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30°/ 32°. Then the expansion begins, which initially begins for the wine in barriques and after 24 months the Barolo is then placed in a cement tank for half a year. Finally, the wine is then stored in the bottle during the final phase of aging.
The Barolo Persiera has a bright ruby red color with orange reflections. In the nose the deep and perfumed fruit impresses, dominated by the juicy cherry fruit. The Barolo has good structure and density with smooth acidity and attractive, grainy tannins.
A perfect accompaniment to game, red meat and mature cheeses. This very convincing Barolo is to be enjoyed immediately and for the next 10 years.
