Josetta Saffirio 2017 Barolo Comune di Monforte D'Alba DOCG Magnum 1.5L

The Nebbiolo grapes for the Josetta Saffirio Barolo DOCG del Comune di Monforte d'Alba 2017 come from three different vineyards that have been owned by the Saffirio winery for decades. The Nebbiolo vines are of considerable age and promise berries of the highest quality.
The hand picking of the grapes usually takes place in October and the carefully selected berries are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30°/ 32°. Then the aging begins, which takes place in barriques for the wine and lasts 24 months. Finally, the wine is then stored in the bottle during the final phase of maturation.
This Barolo impresses with its intense, sweet cherry fruit, a hint of rose petals, but also earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is fruity, mineral with fine tannins and good structure. The aftertaste is balanced and persistent. A balanced and elegant Barolo.
The Barolo goes very well with game, red meat and aged cheeses. It is ready to drink immediately and for the next eight years.
