Wine magazine Vinum: ..."robust tannins, lively acidity, beautiful structure with lots of character and a virile and complex berry finish."
The Cannubi Cru is located above the municipality of Barolo and extends from east to south over 19 hectares of vineyards. Of these, the Borgogno family owns 3.5 hectares in a particularly good position. The Barolo Cannubi wines from this location have great balance.
In October of each year, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. The fermentation that follows then takes place in an open oak vat. The aging then also takes place in a large oak barrel over a 2-year period. After another year of aging in the bottle, the wine finally goes on sale.
The Fratelli Borgogno Barolo Cannubi 2018 DOCG has a lot of power, finesse and density; plenty of fine-grained tannin; appears robust, tight-knit and salty. Fine fruit accompanied by liquorice with a hint of caraway; also balsamic notes. In the final powerful and long with a positive charisma.
The Barolo is ready to drink immediately, but unfolds all its elegance and complexity over the next 20 years. A wonderful accompaniment to game, roasts, red meat and mature cheeses.
The winery does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the winemaking process.
