The Albarella Cru is located in the municipality of Barolo and runs northwest of the Cannubi vineyard. It is a smaller location, but has become more important in recent years. The Barolo wines of this location show a remarkable intensity of colour, substance and taste.
The Borgogno family produced the Barolo Albarella for the first time with the 2018 vintage and they immediately succeeded in producing an excellent single-vineyard wine. The wine has intense fruity and balsamic notes and on the palate the structure, substance and density impress. The finely woven tannins form a harmony with the well-balanced acidity.
In October of each year, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. The fermentation that follows then takes place in an open oak vat. Maturation then takes place in a large oak barrel over a 2-year period. After another year of bottle storage, the wine finally goes on sale.
This Fratelli Borgogno Barolo 2018 Albarella goes very well with lamb, veal, poultry and mature cheeses. Drinking recommendation: 2022-2032
