The Barolo Ginestra is one of the top locations in Monforte D'Alba and in the Langhe in general. The Barolo wines from this location show unbridled power and compactness in most vintages. But at the same time, due to the calcareous marl soils with a high proportion of sand and clay, they also have a wonderful freshness, clarity and elegance.
After the hand-picking in October, the berries from both locations are carefully selected for further processing and then vinified separately. Fermentation takes place with local yeasts in a temperature-controlled steel tank. The wine is then aged for 24 months in 50 hl oak barrels and then for a further 8 months in cement tanks. Finally, after a short storage period in the bottle, the Barolo is released for sale.
In the mouth, the Ginestra impresses with delicate, mineral notes that combine with dark cherries and dried rose petals. The palate is dominated by grippy tannins that are incredibly finely polished and structured. You can feel the intense red fruit, followed by a certain saltiness and a hint of delicate herbs. A truly great Barolo with great development potential!
