This Barolo wine is made from a selection of grapes from the renowned Ginestra Cru. The plots used are Pajana and Ciabot, both with a southeast orientation, and the Nebbiolo vines have an average age of 20 years. The label is inspired by an old bottle (1921) of Barolo Ginestra made by Conterno Lorenzo, Diego's great-grandfather.
After the hand harvest in October, the berries from both vineyards are carefully selected for further processing and then vinified separately. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in a temperature-controlled steel tank. The wine is then aged in 50 hl oak barrels for 24 months and then in cement tanks for another 8 months. Finally, the Barolo goes on sale after a short storage time in the bottle.
On the nose, this Barolo has notes of cherries, dried flowers, orange peel and warm spices. On the palate it impresses with its structure, density and balance. The tannin is present and finely woven. This Barolo 2019 Comune di Monforte D'Alba is a high quality and highly recommended wine.
