The Ca' del Baio Barbaresco Vallegrande 2020 DOCG is a high-quality and traditionally produced Barbaresco that impresses with its elegance.
The winery owns various plots on this site, totaling 3 hectares. From these vineyards, which are located around the winery, comes the most traditional Barbaresco of the family, which is aged exclusively in large oak barrels, as in the past. It best expresses the elegance of the wine without showing the muscles of the Nebbiolo.
The grapes are hand-picked in October and carefully selected for vinification. The traditional red fermentation of the destemmed grapes takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and the grapes remain on the skins for 7-15 days. The wine then ages in large Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months. It then remains in the bottle for a further 6 months before being released on the market.
The Barbaresco Vallgrande has a garnet red color, an intense bouquet with enveloping notes of fruit, dried flowers and scents of undergrowth. The palate is warm, velvety and very harmonious. The fine-grained tannins are pleasantly present and the warm finish lingers.
The wine is ready to drink immediately and for the next 10+ years. It goes very well with veal and lamb, red meat and mature cheeses.
