Gianfranco Alessandria's Barolo red wine has been an undiscovered jewel for years. This applies all the more to the 2017 vintage, which is beautifully straightforward and balanced.
The berries for the Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo 2017 DOCG come from various Nebbiolo slopes of the family in the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. The hand-picked and carefully selected grapes are lightly pressed and destemmed. Fermentation takes place in vertical fermentation tanks with a controlled temperature and a short maceration time. The aging of the wines then takes place in French barriques and lasts 24 months. After a short period of bottle storage, the Barolo is then sold.
The diverse aromas with notes of sweet, red berries, spices and dried flowers are impressive. The hearty tannin is very pleasant and balanced in addition to the fine fruit sweetness. The finish has a good length with lots of charm. A very successful Barolo with a lot of balance and finesse.
As food accompaniments we recommend game, red meat and aged cheese. This wine is immediately drinkable us during the next ten years. It is ready to drink immediately and for the next 8-10 years.
