Authentic Barbera D'Asti vineyard wines in a class
Roberto Ferraris, who runs his winery together with his wife Laura and son Luca, has been a Barbera specialist for decades and produces some of the best Barbera d'Asti wines in the entire region, vintage after vintage. His wines are always authentic and reflect the typicality of the terroir. They are characterized by great balance and poise. At the beginning of the 21st century, Roberto received an important award from the renowned American trade magazine, Wine Spectator.
His Barbera Nobbio, which is made from berries from very old vines and is only aged in stainless steel tanks, won first prize in the Barbera category. Roberto produces five Barbera wines with different styles. More classically oriented Barbera wines such as Suori, Nobbio, both of which are aged in stainless steel tanks, and Bisavolo, which is aged in large wooden barrels.
On the other hand, the La Cricca Barbera, like the Nice, is matured both in barriques and in large oak barrels. Since the municipality of Agliano Terme is not far from the Langhe wine-growing region, certain locations are also suitable for producing good Nebbiolo wines to manufacture. Robert owns such a vineyard and produces a Monferrato Nebbiolo that fits seamlessly into the front line of high quality Nebbiolo wines.
