The Barbera Gisep is a homage to grandfather Giuseppe Massolino and sometimes you have to wait a long time for this wine. Because this high-quality Barbera is produced in very good vintages. 2020 has been such a good year for Barbera wine and we are delighted to offer you the Gisep.
The Massolino Barbera D'Alba Gisep is a mature and structured Barbera, which has a greater depth of expression through a longer maturation period. It is put on the market from the second year of maturation. The grapes for this Barbera come from a selection of grapes from different vineyards, as said only from the best vintages. The excellent exposure and the very low yields give excellent grapes that allow to obtain a wine of great complexity. The result is outstanding wine; structured and opulent, pleasantly complex and round, with fruity notes, concentrated, well-integrated acidity. and for a Barbera with surprising longevity.
In the wine cellar, the temperature-controlled fermentation (approx. 30°C) in oak fermentation tanks ("tini") lasts about ten days. The wine then matures partly in French oak barriques and large Slovenian oak barrels for up to 18 months. After further aging in the bottle in the cool and dark cellars provided for this purpose, the Barbera finally goes on sale.
The Gisep goes very well with tasty sauces, main courses with meat, such as the sumptuous Piedmontese selection of cooked meats and meat stews.
