The Barbera for the 2020 Cecila Monte Barbera D'Alba is grown in a single vineyard with an average age of the vines of around 50 years. This age of the vines combined with the southern exposure of the plot guarantees ripe berries at harvest time. The hand-picking of these Barbera grapes usually takes place at the end of September/beginning of October.
The subsequent fermentation of the must in contact with the skins lasts for about 6/7 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. During the fermentation period, the mash is pumped over regularly, which promotes a high extraction of color and aroma. After racking and the second fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months. It is then stored in the bottle before the Barbera is finally sold.
The Barbera shows notes of ripe cherry jam and sweet spices, is concentrated and full-bodied on the palate with balsamic freshness, soft tannins and very well-integrated acidity. A successful and high-quality Barbera D'Alba. It goes very well with veal and pork, pasta dishes with meat sauces and poultry.
