The Chardonnay grape variety thrives particularly well on calcareous to calcareous soils and therefore finds ideal growing conditions in Piedmont. It was therefore obvious for the Rocca family to use the limestone soils of the Langhe to produce high-quality Chardonnay wines. Since 1994 they have been making wonderfully fresh and balanced wines from the grapes of this grape variety. The berries come from plots in Barbaresco, Neive and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio.
After being hand-picked in September, the grapes are gently pressed and then fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. This cool fermentation and the absence of malolactic fermentation help to preserve the freshness and accentuate the fruit aromas. The wine then matures on the fine lees in steel containers for 6-8 months before being bottled.
The result is a wonderfully fresh, fruity and harmonious Chardonnay. It exudes aromas of ripe oranges, lemons, fresh apricots, peaches and delicate herbs. On the palate it is powerful, slightly creamy with a good structure and impresses with its harmony and freshness.
