The Barbera d'Alba 2023 from the Albino Rocca winery is a characterful country wine in the best sense of the word, which is a lot of fun. The grapes for this vintage come from various vineyards owned by the Rocca family in the Barbaresco growing area of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio. These plots were replanted with Barbera vines after the purchase in 2004.
After careful hand-picking in early autumn, the Barbera grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and then matured for a short time in these tanks. After a short period of bottle storage, the wine is immediately available for sale.
The resulting Albino Rocca Barbera d'Alba presents itself as a classic country wine with freshness, liveliness and aromas of ripe red berries, cherries and fine spices. On the palate it shows a dense fruitiness with youthful tannins and well-integrated acidity. This Barbera d'Alba 2023 is medium-bodied, with good length and embodies the charm of a beautiful everyday wine. The drinking window ranges from 2024 to 2029.
The small winery, beautifully located in the heart of the Barbaresco wine region, has achieved international status under the management of siblings Daniela, Monica and Paola.
