The Roberto Ferraris Barbera d'Asti Nizza 2018 DOCG impressively underlines the potential of the Barbera grapes. A quality wine of the extra class. Fullness, density, balance, complex aromas and a long finish! A wine for special occasions.

The Nice is made from the winery's best and oldest Barbera grapes, which are carefully selected during the manual harvest in September. These grapes are then immediately transported to the cantina, destemmed and gently pressed. The fermentation then takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and then the wine is aged in French barrique barrels for 18 months. This is followed by a nine-month bottle aging before the Nice is sold.

This Nizza is very powerful and full-bodied and impresses with its very well integrated acidity. Its range of aromas is very diverse and complex. From berry to balsamic to spicy and earthy. There is a beautiful balance between alcohol, tannins and acidity. The long-lasting aftertaste leaves a pleasant feeling in the mouth. This Nice is ready to drink immediately and for the next 20 years. A perfect accompaniment to roasts, game, red meat and mature cheeses. The winery practices integrated viticulture and uses no herbicides, fungicides and pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in wine production.

The Roberto Ferraris winery, founded in 1923, is located on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Agliano Terme, which belongs to the most lush and fertile Barbera-growing region of the Monferrato in Piedmont. The soil and microclimate in this part of Monferrato are ideal conditions for growing the Barbera grape.

Here Roberto, a humble man, produces some of Piedmont's best Barbera wines. With his vines, some of which are 70 years old, he produces Barbera wines that are full and round and enjoy international popularity.

The winery produces about seventy thousand bottles a year. Roberto makes five different Barbera wines, from the excellent Table Barbera to his top Barbera Nizza, which is comparable to the best Piedmont wines.
