An unbelievably full-bodied Barbera, matured in a stainless steel tank. This classic tastes like a very good barbera! Good integrated acidity, structure, balance and a delicious finish! Small price !!
This full-bodied classic from the stainless steel tank has everything that characterizes a fantastic Barbera. Complex aromas, structure, elegance, density, balance, well-integrated acidity and a delicious finish. No wonder that this Barbera has been the flagship of the winery for years.
The grapes from which Nobbio is pressed come from 70 year old vines that still produce berries of the highest quality. Harvested by hand in September, the grapes are then fermented in stainless steel tanks after being gently pressed. The aging process also takes place in stainless steel tanks and takes a year. After a short storage period in the bottle, the wine is then put on the market. The Barbera is then ready to drink immediately and for the next ten years. Nobbio goes very well with risotto, poultry, veal and pork.
Nobbio was voted Barbera of the Year by the renowned American wine magazine "Wine Spectator" . After that, many winemakers in Monferrato again expanded Barbera wines in steel barrels, as has been the tradition. The winery operates integrated viticulture. It does not use herbicides, fungicides and pesticides in the vineyard, nor any additives in winemaking.
THE PRODUCER: ROBERTO FERRARIS
The Roberto Ferraris winery was founded in 1923 by Stefano Ferraris and is located in Agliano Terme, in the heart of the historic Barbera d'Asti area. Due to the nature of the soil and the microclimate, the conditions here are excellent for the Barbera vine.
For this reason, Roberto Ferrari's father planted his 10 hectare vineyards with Barbera vines, some of which have reached an average age of 70 years. One can rightly call Roberto a Barbera expert and first class specialist. He runs the winery in the same tradition as his ancestors did. With his Barbera wines he has earned an international reputation for their consistently high quality.
Today the winery produces around 70,000 bottles of wine annually. Roberto presses five different B arbera quality wines from the Barbera grapes. Also worth mentioning is the winery's historic wine cellar, which dates back to the early 19th century. It now serves as a museum, and is equipped with a collection of natural sculptures from old vines, all of which Roberto's brother created.
