A wonderful Barbaresco with complex aromas, elegant but powerful and with a lot of substance on the palate. Ripe tannins and great potential.

The Albesani-Borgese Cru is located on the top of a vineyard within the municipality of Neive. The plot of the Busso family extends in a south-eastern location at a good 300m above sea level. The Barbaresco from this cru is characterized not only by its elegance but also by its powerful and structured taste.

The grapes are picked by hand at the beginning of October and carefully selected for further processing. After destemming, the grapes are lightly pressed and then fermented in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank. The expansion then takes place in large oak barrels over an 18 month period. After all, the wine is stored in the bottle for six months before it goes on sale.

This Barbaresco has a garnet-red color, fruity, mineral and spicy aromas. It impresses with its elegance, balance, full-bodiedness and its long finish. A wonderful accompaniment to roasts, game and red meat dishes. The wine is ready to drink immediately, but if stored correctly, it can develop and retain its great potential over several decades. The winery operates organic viticulture.

THE PRODUCER: PIERO BUSSO

The Societá Agricola Piero Busso was founded by Piero Busso Senior in 1953. The family, Piero, his wife Lucia, his daughter Emmanuela and his son Pierguido, take care of all areas of wine production, from marketing to sales. The winery is surrounded by steep vineyards and is beautifully located just outside the municipality of Neive. The family produces around 45,000 bottles of wine annually on an area of 10 hectares.

All Busso vineyards are located in the Barbaresco wine growing area and are among the best crus in the entire region. The crus are Albesani, Gallina and San Stunet. The family presses three different Barbaresco single-site wines of the highest quality from the Nebbiolo grapes. Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo wines complete the offer.

The family motto that the wine must always reflect the terroir can be felt at every step. The work in the vineyard and in the wine cellar follows this guideline and the wines reflect this.
