A wonderfully balanced and harmonious Barolo with complex aromas and a long potential for expansion.
The grapes for this Barolo come from the renowned Le Coste vineyard, which extends over 50 hectares in n the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Pecchenino owns a 1 hectare plot which is superbly located in the south in the middle of the vineyard. The grapes from this location are therefore of very high quality.
The grapes are picked by hand in October and carefully selected for further processing. After destemming, the grapes are lightly pressed and then fermented for a maximum of 30 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The following maturation takes place over a period of 36 months in large Slovenian oak barrels. Then the Barolo is stored on the bottle before it goes on sale.
The Barolo Le Coste has strength and full-bodiedness as well as a great, well-balanced tannin structure with a long, persistent finish. The aromas are intense and berry and the color is bright garnet red. It is also worth mentioning that the wine is ready to drink immediately, but has great potential for expansion and will only express its great potential over the years. This Barolo goes very well with red meat dishes, roasts, game and mature cheeses. The winery operates organic viticulture.
THE PRODUCER: PECCHENINO
The Pecchenino winery is a breathtakingly beautiful property that has been family-owned since the end of the 18th century. Records show that the farm belonged to the grandfather of the current generation at the turn of the century and comprised a vineyard of eight hectares.
In the course of time the farm has been handed over from generation to generation. The current owners, Attilio and Orlando, have continuously developed the winery. Today it covers a total of 25 hectares, the majority of which is in the municipality of Dogliani, where the Dolcetto grape variety is mainly grown. The smaller but all the more important part of your vineyards is in the Barolo municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Pecchenino produces two Barolo single-site wines, Le Coste and San Giuseppe.
