A wonderfully balanced and harmonious Barolo with complex aromas and a long aging potential.
The grapes for Pecchenino Barolo Le Coste di Monforte 2011 DOCG come from the renowned Le Coste vineyard, which extends over 50 hectares in the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Pecchenino owns a 1 hectare plot, excellently situated south facing in the middle of the vineyard. The grapes from this site are therefore of a very high quality.
The grapes are harvested by hand in October and carefully selected for further processing. After destemming, the grapes are lightly pressed and then fermented for a maximum of 30 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The following maturation takes place over a period of 36 months in large Slovenian oak barrels. Then the Barolo is stored in the bottle before it goes on sale.
Pecchenino Barolo Le Coste di Monforte 2011 DOCG has not only power and full-bodiedness, but also a great, well-balanced tannin structure with a long, persistent finish. The aromas are intense and berry and the color is bright garnet red. It is also worth mentioning that the wine is ready to drink immediately, but has great aging potential and will only express its great potential over the years. This Barolo goes very well with red meat dishes, roasts, game and mature cheeses. The winery operates organic viticulture.
THE PRODUCER: PECCHENINO
Pecchenino Winery is a stunningly beautiful estate that has been in the family since the late 18th century. Records show that the farm belonged to the present generation's grandfather around the turn of the century and had eight hectares of vineyards.
Over time, the farm has been handed down from generation to generation. The current owners, Attilio and Orlando, have continuously developed the winery. Today it covers a total of 25 hectares, most of which is in the municipality of Dogliani, where the Dolcetto grape variety is mainly cultivated. The smaller but all the more significant part of your vineyards are located in the Barolo municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Pecchenino produces two Barolo single site wines, Le Coste and San Giuseppe.
