Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva DOCG 2015, made from the berries of this hill, has extraordinary power and structure due to the soil and microclimate, but also impresses with wonderful elegance and harmony.
The Massolino family has been cultivating the Vigna Rionda vineyard since the 1950s. Father Giovanni's foresight led to the purchase of the first plot of this exceptional cru.
Intense floral aromas dominate the nose, but also concentrated cherry notes. On the palate, the wine is rich, smooth and lush. The acidity is very well integrated, the tannin fine with great finesse and concentration. Long lasting finish. A truly great Barolo!
Hand picking takes place in the second half of October. After the berries have been destemmed, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured in large oak barrels and this process usually takes 42 months. The subsequent aging in the bottle, which is usually 30 months, takes place in dark and cool storage rooms provided for this purpose. The aging period is so long because this Barolo needs time to develop its characteristics and reveal its great depth.
Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva DOCG 2015 is the perfect accompaniment to game, red meat and aged cheeses. It is ready to drink now, but has enormous development potential over the next 12-15 years.
