The Massolino family has been cultivating the Vigna Rionda vineyard since the 1950s. Father Giovanni's foresight led to the purchase of the first plot of this exceptional cru.

Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva 2015 DOCG, made from the berries of this hill, has exceptional power and structure due to the soil and microclimate, but also impresses with wonderful elegance and harmony.

Intense floral aromas dominate the nose, but also concentrated cherry notes. On the palate, the wine is rich, smooth and lush. The acidity is very well integrated, the tannin fine with great finesse and concentration. Long lasting finish. A truly great Barolo!

Hand picking takes place in the second half of October. After the berries have been destemmed, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then matured in large oak barrels and this process usually takes 42 months. The subsequent aging in the bottle, which is usually 30 months, takes place in dark and cool storage rooms provided for this purpose. The aging period is so long because this Barolo needs time to develop its characteristics and reveal its great depth.

Massolino Barolo Vigna Rionda Riserva DOCG 2015 is the perfect accompaniment to game, red meat and aged cheeses. It is ready to drink now, but has enormous development potential over the next 12-15 years.

The history of Massolino is part of the history of Barolo.

Located in the most prominent place of the village of Serralunga d'Alba, Massolino is one of the most renowned Piedmont wineries. From here you have a magnificent view of castles, villages and vineyards and the Alps in the background.

Founded by Giovanni Massolino in the late 1800s, the winery was responsible for connecting Serralunga to the electricity grid. He was a forward-thinking and creative man who laid the foundation for this wonderful winery.

The winery is now managed by the 4th generation of Franco and Roberto Massolino. Generation led by Franco and Roberto Massolino. Their goal is to preserve the autochthonous grape varieties and to constantly improve with tradition and innovation. They nurture and protect the symbiotic relationship between the soil, the vines and the winemaker.
