An excellent Barolo single site wine from a renowned Cru. This Barolo has everything you could wish for from a great Barolo: complexity, harmony and well-matured tannins!

The grapes for the Livia Fontana Barolo Bussia Riserva 2010 DOCG come from the renowned Bussia vineyard, which extends over almost 300 hectares in the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. Livia Fontana owns a half-hectare plot, superbly located on top of the vineyard at 300m above sea level, facing south-east. This guarantees grapes of optimal ripeness.

The Barolo Bussia Riserva from this vineyard has a mineral, earthy character in addition to great harmony, power and full-bodied character. The aromas are intense, berry and the color is garnet red. It is also worth mentioning that the wine is ready to drink immediately, but has great aging potential and will only express its great potential over many years.

The grapes are harvested by hand in October and carefully selected for further processing. The fermentation lasts a maximum of 15 days and takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.

The wine matures in large Slovenian oak barrels for a period of 36 months. Before the wine goes on sale, it is stored in the bottle for another year.

This Barolo goes very well with red meat dishes, game and roasts. The winery operates integrated viticulture.

THE PRODUCER: ETTORE FONTANA

The Livia Fontana winery was founded in 1820 by Ettore Fontana. Livia is an 8th generation winemaker and runs the winery together with her two sons, Michele and Lorenzo. They still follow the traditions of their ancestors - passion for the land must be combined with never-ending work!

The winery is located in Castiglione Falletto and has 9 hectares of excellent vineyards. Among them are two prestigious crus, Bussia and Villero.

The vines are on average 40 years old, some even 80 years old.
