Guido Porro Vigna Lazzairasco Barolo red wine 2015 DOCG is an impressive Barolo single site wine! Just the right mix of power, depth, complexity and finesse.
This balanced Barolo has many outstanding qualities. Starting with its pleasant full taste, the rich fruit underlaid with dark berries, compact and powerful with lots of substance and density. Very well integrated, lively acidity with fine-grained tannins, great elegance and a pleasant liveliness and freshness. It is a truly impressive wine that is now ready to drink.
The vines, which are 45 years old on average, are located in a south-eastern position on a steep slope called Lazzairasco, which belongs to the Cru Lazzarito and is considered one of the top locations in the municipality of Serralunga D'Alba and beyond.
The grapes for this Barolo are harvested by hand in October and carefully selected for processing. They are then immediately destemmed and gently pressed in the nearby wine cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a 2-year aging in large Slovenian oak barrels, followed by a year of bottle aging. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next 15+ years. The wine goes well with roasts, grilled or roasted red meats and aged hard cheeses. Guido Porro does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the winemaking.
