Guido Porro Vigna Lazzairasco Barolo Red Wine 2015 DOCG is an impressive Barolo single site wine!. Complex fruity and berry notes. Great balance and elegance. Fine tannins and a lingering finish!

This balanced Barolo has many outstanding qualities. Starting with its pleasant full taste, the rich fruit underlaid with dark berries, compact and powerful with lots of substance and density. Very well integrated, lively acidity with fine-grained tannins, great elegance and a persistent, slightly spicy finish with bite. It is a truly impressive wine that has now reached good drinking maturity.

The vines, which are 45 years old on average, are located in a south-eastern position on a steep slope called Lazzairasco, which belongs to the Cru Lazzarito and is considered one of the top locations in the municipality of Serralunga D'Alba and beyond. This location is particularly sheltered from the wind, also very sunny, and the soil consists of variable layers of sand, clay and mostly loam. This type of soil generally promises long-lasting, full-bodied and expressive Barolo wines.

The grapes for this Barolo are harvested by hand in October and carefully selected for processing. They are then immediately destemmed and gently pressed in the nearby wine cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a 2-year aging in large Slovenian oak barrels, followed by a year of bottle aging. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next 15+ years. The wine goes well with roasts, grilled or roasted red meats and aged hard cheeses. Guido Porro does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the winemaking.

Azienda Agricola Guido Porro is located on the road that goes from Alba to the Barolo parish of Serralunga d'Alba. The winery, with views of Castiglione Falletto and the Alps, is one of the most stunning in all of Piedmont.

Guido, fourth-generation winegrower, runs the winery with the support of his family. On 8 hectares of vineyards he produces three Cru Barolo wines - Lazzaraisco, Gianetto and Santa Caterina - as well as a classic Barolo, Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.
