"Everything fits together harmoniously and radiates inner peace. Scents of rose hips, strawberries, cranberries. Velvety tannin presence, shows more and more charm and sweetness over time, accessible and ready to drink early". (Weinwisser) Ready to drink: Now-2036
The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo come from the small Santa Caterina vineyard, which is not far from Guido Porro's winery. The wines from this vineyard are characterized by their power and tight-meshed tannins, but they also have equally a lot of finesse, elegance and velvetiness. The aromas are diverse with delicate spices, berry fruits and slightly balsamic notes.
The harvest during the month of October is done by hand with immediate destemming and soft pressing of the grapes in the cellar. Immediately afterwards, temperature-controlled fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks, before the wine is aged in large Slovenian oak barrels over a period of 24 months. After all, the wine is stored in the bottle for almost a year before it is sold.
The Guido Porro Barolo Santa Caterina 2016 is ready to drink immediately and for the next 15 years. The winery does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and does not use any additives in the wine preparation. The Barolo goes very well with game and roast beef with a hearty sauce and mature hard cheese.
