This excellent Barolo wine has mineral aromas but also a raspberry scent with a hint of undergrowth notes. Shows a lot of elegance, tension and structure. Medium-bodied in the mouth with slightly dusty tannins and yet very elegant and rich in finesse. The piquant acidity gives the wine a pleasant freshness. Enjoyable to drink now and should reach its full potential within a decade.

The vines, which are 45 years old on average, are located in a south-eastern position on a steep slope called Lazzairasco, which belongs to the Cru Lazzarito and is considered one of the top locations in the municipality of Serralunga D'Alba and beyond. This location is particularly sheltered from the wind, also very sunny, and the soil consists of different layers of sand, clay and mostly loam. This type of soil generally promises long-lasting, full-bodied and expressive Barolo wines.

The grapes for this Barolo wine are harvested by hand in October and carefully selected for processing. They are then immediately destemmed and gently pressed in the nearby wine cellar. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a 2-year aging in large Slovenian oak barrels, followed by a year of bottle aging. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next 10+ years. The wine goes well with roasts, grilled or roasted red meats and aged hard cheeses. Guido Porro does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the winemaking.


Azienda Agricola Guido Porro is located in the Barolo municipality of Serralunga, an area known for its strong Barolo wine production. From Guido's wine cellar, the view extends over the entire Langhe to the Alps. It is one of the most breathtaking views in Piedmont.

Guido belongs to a multi-generational winemaker family. He is supported by his wife Giovanna and his father. The winery covers 8 hectares of vineyards, including three different Barolo crus - Lazzairasco, Gianetto and Santa Caterina. Guido produces elegant wines with great longevity. He also makes Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto.
