The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo come from the small Santa Caterina vineyard, which is not far from Guido Porro's winery. The wines from this location are characterized by their power and close-knit tannins, but also have a lot of finesse, elegance and velvety. The aromas are diverse with delicate spice, berry fruits and slightly mineral notes.
The harvest during the month of October is carried out by hand with immediate destemming and gentle pressing of the grapes in the wine cellar. Immediately afterwards, temperature-controlled fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks before the wine is aged in large Slovenian oak barrels for a period of 24 months. Finally, the wine is stored in the bottle for almost a year before it goes on sale.
The Guido Porro Barolo Santa Caterina 2016 is ready to drink immediately and for the next 15 years. The winery does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and does not use any additives in the wine preparation. Drinking window: 2022-2033

The winery has a long history and has been run by the Porro family for generations. Although Guido Porro has made a name for himself among wine lovers worldwide for high-quality Barolo single-vineyard wines, this small winery is still considered an insider tip. Guido Porro attaches great importance to the care of the vineyards and works with great care to produce high-quality grapes. The vines for Barolo grow in the region's best locations, and the vinification and storage takes place in large oak barrels to develop the wine's characteristic aromas and structure. Each wine reflects the unique characteristics of the terroir and the Porro family's passion for high quality wines.
The Barolo goes very well with game and roast beef with a hearty sauce and mature hard cheese.
