Chalky cherry on the nose. Full-bodied on the palate with sweet and sour cherry fruit and a hint of gingerbread. Lush finish with sandy tannins. Not particularly complex, but still very enjoyable. 16+/20 Drinkability: 2022-2030
This Gianfranco Alessandria Barolo 2018 DOCG red wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes that come from the family's Nebbiolo plots, all located in the municipality of Monforte D'Alba. After the hand picking, the grapes are lightly pressed and destemmed. The fermentation then takes place in vertical fermentation tanks with temperature control and only a short maceration time. The diverse aromas with notes of sweet, red berries, spices and dried flowers are impressive. The sandy tannin is structured and harmonious in addition to the fine fruit sweetness. The lingering aftertaste is lush with good length. A very successful Barolo with medium complexity, lots of charm and finesse.
We recommend lamb, game, roast meat and aged cheese as food accompaniments. This wine is drinkable immediately us during the next ten to twelve years.
