Fratelli Borgogno Barolo Cannubi 2017 DOCG is a top-class Barolo from an exceptional vintage! Very good quality/price ratio!

One of the most renowned vineyards in the entire Barolo region lies above the municipality of Barolo. Cannubi is the name of this site, which stretches over almost 19 hectares from east to south. The Barolo Cannubi wines are characterized by particularly accessible tannins and great elegance. The Borgogno family owns 3 hectares of vineyards in a particularly good position on the Cannubi vineyard.

During October, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. After destemming and gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in an oak vat. Maturation then takes place in a very large oak barrel over a 2-year period. After another year of aging in the bottle, the wine finally goes on sale.

Fratelli Borgogno Barolo Cannubi 2017 DOCG then has a ruby red color, fruity, berry and spicy aromas combined with great elegance and impressive harmony. The tannins are compact but already very accessible. In the mouth, the cannubi is balanced, dense and juicy, with a powerful and long finish. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately, but unfolds its full elegance and complexity over the next 20 years. A wonderful accompaniment to game, roasts, red meat and mature cheese.

The winery does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the winemaking process.

The Serio & Battista Borgogno winery has been located since 1897 on the upper part of the Cannubi vineyard, one of the absolute top locations in the entire Barolo wine-growing region.

But the family history began in the middle of the 19th century with Cavalier Francesco Borgogno. He produced his own wine, which he then sold at his wife's inn in Barolo. From his son Ludovico his sons, Serio and Battista, inherited some land and a small farmhouse in Cannubi. With wise foresight, they managed to make your dream of owning your own winery a reality. Over the years they bought more plots of Cannubi vineyard and ended up owning 3.5 hectares of this valuable land.

All their lives, Serio and Battista have worked tirelessly to exploit the enormous potential of the winery to the full. They have thus created the basis for the next generations. Today, the Cannubi Cru is one of the best locations in the entire Barolo area.

The memory of Serio Borgogno, who died in 2016, lives on in the vines and in the passion he instilled in his family. His granddaughters, Emanuela and Federica, are the fifth generation to run the iconic winery. The family produces around 60,000 bottles of wine a year. Besides Barolo also Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo wines.
