    The Borgogno family has been renting a vineyard in the Barbaresco wine-growing region for years. The Nebbiolo grapes from which the winery produces a Barbaresco DOCG come from San Rocco d'Elvio, the smallest Barbaresco zone.

    The manual harvest usually takes place during October. After destemming, the grapes are placed in an open wooden vat where fermentation takes place. Depending on the vintage, this fermentation process takes about 12-15 days. The next step in winemaking is malolactic fermentation, which is carried out spontaneously in stainless steel tanks.

    The aging of the Fratelli Borgogno Barbaresco 2018 DOCG then takes place in large Slovenian oak barrels. After 15 more months, the barrel aging of the wine is finished. Finally, the Barbaresco is bottled and after six months it is on the market.

    Fratelli Borgogno Barbaresco 2018 DOCG has predominantly notes of red berries with nutty and smoky aromas and hints of tobacco. The tannin is present and fine with well-integrated acidity. The alcohol is noticeable and the slightly peppery finish is good to very good. The wine goes well with white meat, lamb and pasta. It is ready to drink immediately and for the next seven years.     Serio & Battista Borgogno is located in the Cannubi vineyard, one of the best areas of the entire Barolo area.

    The history of this family began over a hundred years ago with the cavalier Francesco Borgogno. The wine he produced was sold at his wife's inn in Barolo. His grandsons Serio and Battista inherited a piece of land and a small farmhouse in Cannubi. They managed to realize their dream of owning their own winery on the Cannubi cru.

    Serio and Battista worked tirelessly to make the winery a success. They created the basis for one of the best Barolo crus.

    Sergio passed away in 2016, leaving the winery to his family. Today his granddaughters Emanuela and Federica run the winery. They are the 5th generation running the winery.

    The winery produces about 60,000 bottles a year.
