A successful Roero with good drinking flow.
Roero is a DOCG designation of origin for wines from the region of the same name, which extends over 19 municipalities around the city of Canale. Grapes of the Nebbiolo grape variety are used to make single-variety red wines that show lots of fruit and spice.
Deltetto Roero Gorrini 2018 DOCG organic wine has a dark red color and scents of black fruits. On the palate, the Roero is soft and structured with finely woven tannins. It has a strong body with a good aftertaste. We recommend red meat or game as food companions.
After the Nebbiolo grapes have been handpicked in autumn, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The six-month maturation also only takes place in stainless steel tanks and after a short period of bottle storage, the Roero is then sold. The wine is ready to drink immediately and for the next 5+ years.
The producer: Deltetto
Carlo Deltetto took over the management of the winery from his father Tonino a few years ago. As has become a tradition in Piedmont, Carlo is also supported by the entire family. His parents and his two sisters hold important positions in the winery.
Founded in 1953 by Carlo Deltetto, the grandfather of the current owner, the winery is located in the heart of the municipality of Canale. Over the decades that followed, the business grew steadily and today, Deltetto is an established name in the region.
Deltetto has earned a reputation for producing high quality white wines, dry sparkling wines and autochthonous red wines. The Roero Arneis grape variety is widespread in the Canale area due to the nature of the soil, and the white wines are made from this grape variety the flagship of the winery. Incidentally, Roero Arneis is one of the few wines whose taste is not felt on the tongue but only on the palate. The Nebbiolo has also found a home in the Roero area and Carlo Deltetto produces a Barolo Parussi single-vineyard wine as well as a Nebbiolo D'Alba and the Roero wine, which can only be found in this area. The Deltetto winery practices organic viticulture.
