A successful Roero with good drinking flow.
Roero is a DOCG designation of origin for wines from the region of the same name, which extends over 19 communities around the city of Canale. The grapes of the Nebbiolo grape variety are used to make single-variety red wines that show a lot of fruit and spice.
This organic wine has a dark red color and scent notes of black fruits. On the palate, the Roero appears soft and structured with finely woven tannin. It has a strong body with a good finish. We recommend red meat or game as a meal accompaniment.
After the hand-picking of the Nebbiolo grapes in autumn, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The six-month maturation takes place only in stainless steel tanks and after a short bottle storage comes the Roero then in the trade. The wine is ready to drink immediately and for the next 5+ years.
The producer: Deltetto
Carlo Deltetto took over the management of the winery from his father Tonino a few years ago. As it has become tradition in Piedmont, Carlo is also supported by the whole family. His parents and also his two sisters hold important functions in the winery.
Founded in 1953 by Carlo Deltetto, the grandfather of the current owner, the winery is located in the middle of the municipality of Canale. Over the following decades, the company has grown steadily, and today Deltetto is an established player in the region.
Deltetto has made a name for itself for the production of high-quality white wines, dry sparkling wines and autochthonous red wines. The Roero Arneis grape variety is widespread in the area around Canale due to the nature of the soil, and the white wines are made from this grape variety the flagship of the winery. Incidentally, Roero Arneis is one of the few wines whose taste cannot be felt on the tongue, but only on the palate. The Nebbiolo has also found a home in the Roero area and Carlo Deltetto produces a Barolo Parussi single-site wine as well as a Nebbiolo D'Alba, as well as the Roero wine, which can only be found in this area. The Deltetto winery operates organic viticulture.
