The Chionetti Dolcetto Dogliani DOCG Briccolero 2020 vineyard is located to the south-east within the larger San Luigi vineyard at almost 400m above sea level. A good forty years ago this vineyard was planted with Dolcetto vines planted. The Chionetti family has been producing this high-quality Dolcetto ever since.

During September, the grapes are usually picked by hand. After destemming, the must is placed in an open wooden vat for fermentation. For maturation, the mash is then aged in a cement tank and, depending on the vintage, also in a large oak tank for a shorter period of time. Before the Briccolero goes on sale, it is stored in the bottle for a few months.

This Dolcetto has a variety of flavors. The spectrum is dominated by fruity, but also balsamic and spicy aromas. On the palate it is structured, dense and warm. The tannin is fine-grained and the aftertaste is persistent. A beautiful Dolcetto!

Briccolero goes best with pasta, rice, risotto and poultry. It has very good drinking maturity now and for the next seven years.

Chionetti is a winery based in the San Luigi Valley in the small town of Dogliani, just outside the Langhe region of Piedmont, Italy.

In 1912 Giuseppe Chionetti bought vineyards and a farm in the San Luigi Valley from Dogliani. He began producing wines and soon the family gained a solid reputation as wine producers in the region.

Giuseppe's son Quinto took over the winery and increased production. The winery soon began exporting wines to other countries. Quinto earned a reputation as an excellent wine producer. Chionetti became synonymous with the Dolcetto wines from Dogliani.

Sadly, Quinto's son Andrea, who took over the winery, died in a car accident. Quinto continued to run the winery and handed it over to his grandson Nicola in 2013.

Under Nicola's leadership, the winery grew in both size and product range. In 2015, the family acquired plots on three crus in the Barolo growing area and now produces their famous Dolcetto alongside Barolo and Nebbiolo.
