Chionetti Dolcetto di Dogliani San Luigi 2020 DOCG is a classic from this winery. The grapes come from a plot of the well-known San Luigi vineyard, which extends to an altitude of up to 400m in the south and in the Dolcetto Stronghold Dogliani.
The grapes are hand-picked at the beginning of September, after which the grapes are destemmed, pressed and fermented with the skins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Maturation lasts almost a year and also takes place in stainless steel tanks. After a short bottle storage, the Dolcetto is ready to drink. It stands out for its fruity aromas, its freshness and great balance with a long finish. More than just a country wine with an excellent price/quality ratio.
A true all-rounder that goes well with appetizers, pasta, pizza, grilled dishes and lasagne or is also suitable as an aperitif. The Dolcetto is ready to drink immediately and for the next seven years. The winery operates organic winegrowing.
Producer: Chionetti
Chionetti is a winery with deep roots in Dogliani. Dogliani is a small town just on the edge of the Langhe, known for producing excellent Dolcetto wines.
The family history began in 1912 when Giuseppe Chionetti bought vineyards in the San Luigi Valley from Dogliani.
Over time the family started selling bottled wine and the reputation of the winery grew.
During these years the company expanded considerably. The Chionetti wines became synonymous with the Dogliani Dolcetto wines and the family began to export abroad. Quinto, Giuseppe's son, is gaining an excellent reputation as a winemaker both in Italy and abroad.
In 1988, Quinto's son Andrea and daughter Elena tragically died in a car accident. Quinto continued to work in the winery as best he could and in 2013 handed over the management to his grandson Nicola, who has run the winery ever since.
Since 2015, the family has acquired three Crus in the Barolo region. As required by law, these wines are produced in the Barolo region.
The winery practices organic viticulture.
