Very well balanced Nebbiolo with a fine tannin structure and diverse aromas. Very good quality / price ratio.
The grapes from which this Nebbiolo is made come from plots of different Nebbiolo vineyards that are located near the winery. The family owns a total of almost 2.5 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards with a very good orientation and location. The production of high-quality Nebbiolo wines averages 10,000 bottles a year.
The grape harvest usually takes place in the second half of October and the hand-picked grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel barrels after destemming and pressing. The aging then takes place in large oak barrels and takes a year. After six months of bottle storage, the wine is then put on the market.
This Nebbiolo is characterized by its fruity, balsamic notes, its powerful but very elegant and well-proportioned taste. The tannin is pleasantly fine-meshed and round, and the length is good. This wine goes very well with pasta, as well as with poultry, risotto and mature cheeses. The Nebbiolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next ten years. The winery does not use any herbicides, fungicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in winemaking.
THE PRODUCER: SERIO & BATTISTA BORGOGNO
The Serio & Battista Borgogno winery has been on the upper part of the Cannubi vineyard, one of the absolute top locations in the entire Barolo wine-growing region, since 1897.
The family history began with Ludovico Borgogno. When he died , his sons, Serio and Battista, inherited some land and a small farmhouse in Cannubi. With wise foresight, they managed to make your dream of your own winery a reality. Over the years they bought more plots from the Cannubi vineyard and eventually owned 3.5 hectares of this valuable land.
All their lives, Serio and Battista have worked tirelessly to fully exploit the enormous potential of the winery. They have created the basis for the next generations. Today the Cannubi Cru is one of the best locations in the entire Barolo area.
The memory of Serio Borgogno, who died in 2016, lives on in the vines and in the passion that he gave his family in the cradle. Today the winery is run by his granddaughters, Emanuela and Federica Boffa. You are already the 5th generation of this iconic winery. The family produces around 80,000 bottles of wine annually. In addition to Barolo, there are also Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo wines.
