A great Barolo from a legendary location. This Barolo has complex aromas, balance, elegance and rounded tannins.
The Brunate vineyard extends over 28 hectares between the two municipalities of Barolo and La Morra, and runs in a southeasterly direction. On the higher section, on the side facing La Morra, the Oberto family owns a small plot this legendary location. The vines are almost 40 years old and guarantee grapes of the highest quality. The Barolo from this location is characterized by great masculinity and complexity, but equally impresses with the elegance so typical of La Morra.
With its ruby red colour, intense berry and spicy notes and great harmony, this wine is one of the greats in this region. The aging takes place over a period of 26 months, both in barriques and in bulk oak barrel. After 2 months of storage in stainless steel tanks and six months of aging in the bottle, the Barolo is then on the market.
The Barolo is ready to drink immediately, but if stored correctly, this wine can develop and maintain its potential over several decades. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to game, roasts and red meat. The winery uses neither herbicides nor pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in the wine production.
THE PRODUCER: ANDREA OBERTO
The history of the Andrea Oberto winery began when the grandfather of the current owner, Fabio, bought a farmhouse in the municipality of La Morra. Today, La Morra is the largest and also one of the most important growing areas in the entire Barolo region. But in the early 1950s, none of the winegrowers could make a living from growing grapes alone. Because of this, the Oberto family made their living from farming and animal husbandry, and growing vines was more of a sideline.
It was only when the demand for Barolo grew that Andrea decided to give up his secure job as a bus driver to concentrate entirely on winegrowing. His son Fabio was then able to build on this when he ran the winery took over. Today the winery is one of the established Barolo producers in La Morra. Annual production is a good 125,000 bottles of wine and Fabio produces three different Barolo vineyard wines. They come from the most prestigious crus in La Morra: Albarella, Brunate and Rocche dell' Annunziata.
