A great Barolo from a legendary location. This Barolo has complex aromas, balance, elegance and rounded tannins.
The Brunate vineyard extends over 28 hectares between the two communities of Barolo and La Morra and runs in a south-easterly direction. The Oberto family owns a small plot of land on the higher section on the side facing La Morra this legendary location. The vines are almost 40 years old and guarantee grapes of the highest quality. The Barolo from this location is characterized by great masculinity and complexity, but also impresses with the elegance so typical of La Morra.
With its ruby red color, the intense berry and spicy notes and its great harmony, this wine is one of the great ones in this region. The aging takes place over a period of 26 months in barriques as well as in large Oak barrel. After two months of storage in stainless steel tanks and six months of bottle aging, the Barolo is then available for sale.
The Barolo is ready to drink immediately, but when stored correctly, this wine can develop and maintain its potential over several decades. This wine is the perfect companion for game, roasts and red meat. The winery does not use herbicides or pesticides in the vineyard and no additives in winemaking.
THE PRODUCER: ANDREA OBERTO
The history of the Andrea Oberto estate began when the grandfather of the current owner, Fabio, bought a farmhouse in the municipality of La Morra. Today La Morra is the largest and also one of the most important growing areas in the entire Barolo region. But in the early 1950s none of the winemakers could make a living from growing grapes alone. That is why the Oberto family earned their living with agriculture and cattle breeding, and viticulture was more of a minor matter.
It was only when the demand for Barolo increased that Andrea decided to give up his secure job as a bus driver in order to concentrate entirely on viticulture. His son Fabio was able to build on that when he ran the winery took over. Today the winery is one of the established Barolo producers in La Morra. The annual production is around 125,000 bottles of wine and Fabio produces three different Barolo single-site wines. They come from the most renowned crus in La Morra: Albarella, Brunate and Rocche dell 'Annunziata.
