  • "Sweet fragrance, reminiscent of liqueur and cherry, then juicy and with plenty of fine-grained tannins, also with earthy spice and robust architecture standing on finely worked columns; comes alive, becomes finer, saltier and juicier." (wine savvy)

The Nebbiolo grapes for this unique Barolo come from various family vineyards in Castiglione Falletto. The grapes are usually always harvested by hand during the month of October. After destemming, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then transferred to large oak barrels for aging. The wine is aged over a two-year period before it is finally bottled. But before it goes on sale, the Barolo is stored in the bottle for another half a year.

The result is the Monchiero Barolo Comune Castiglione Falletto 2017 DOCG, which is delicate and seductive. Slightly peppery nose of red fruits and hints of cranberries and cinnamon bark. On the palate juicy red fruits with a lot of concentration. Lively, dense aftertaste with firm but well-balanced tannins.

This Barolo is already drinking well, but will continue to develop over the next 8-10 years. It goes very well with roasts, game, red meat and mature cheeses.

Right in the heart of Barolo production is the Monchiero winery, which has been producing wine for almost a century in the fourth generation. The winery is located in the Barolo municipality of Castiglione Falletto and has made a name for itself for high-quality single-vineyard Barolo wines. Today, Daniela and Vittorio Monchiero, with the support of their sons Stefano and Luca, run this small winery and produce first-class and sustainable wines in keeping with the culture and tradition of the region.

This Barolo goes very well with braised meat, game, red meat, risotto with mushrooms and aged hard cheeses.
