The grapes from which the La Vedetta Barbaresco Classico 2019 DOCG is made come from the highest part of the Cà Grossa Cru. The winery has 2.5 hectares of vineyards on this vineyard with 30-year-old Nebbiolo vines. This is the first Barbaresco Classico, because until 2018 Marco and Swantje only produced the Barbaresco Cà Grossa vineyards. But in 2019 they took more vineyard area back from the lease and this gave them the opportunity to produce another Barbaresco.
After hand-picking in October, fermentation is initiated with spontaneous fermentation and the mash then remains on the skins for 20 days. The wine then matured in 25hl large oak barrels for 20 months. The bottling finally took place in July 2021.
The result is a very elegant and high-quality Barbaresco wine. Although this wine is still young, it is already approachable with very soft tannins, good structure and density. It has fruity aromas with a spicy touch. Good depth and length.
