  • The grapes for this Fratello Revello 2019 Barolo come from plots of the winery that are spread over 2.3 hectares of vineyards with a southeasterly orientation in the Annunziata location. The Nebbiolo vines were planted in the mid-1980s on calcareous and clayey soil. Annunziata is one of the highest quality crus in La Morra, and the Barolo wines from this location are of exceptional quality.

In October of each year the grapes are harvested, destemmed and lightly pressed by hand. Fermentation is carried out using natural yeasts and is then started in transverse fermentation tanks, where the mash remains on the skins for 6 to 8 days. The fermentation is then completed in large stainless steel containers and the subsequent malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel. The wine is aged in French barriques and lasts at least 24 months. 20% new and 80% used barriques are used. Finally, the Barolo is stored in the bottle for a good six months before it goes on sale.

The result is a complex and powerful Barolo wine with a rich aromatic profile. Currants and raspberries impress on the nose, accompanied by floral notes and a hint of spicy aromas. On the palate the wine is concentrated with good balance, elegance and present, finely woven tannins. The Barolo is ready to drink immediately and for the next ten years. Goes very well with pasta al ragù, poultry, risotto, Roasted and grilled red meat.

The respected Fratelli Revello winery is known for its traditional craftsmanship and high quality wines. “The philosophy underlying the production of our wines is based on the assumption that a great wine is born in the vineyard”. This is the leitmotif of the Revello siblings, who run the winery today. The family has been practicing sustainable viticulture for years and the approach to winemaking aims to produce Barolo wines that are suitable for long aging in the bottle, but that can also be appreciated and understood at a young age.

This Barolo goes well with pasta al ragù, poultry and roasted or grilled red meat.
