Nascetta is the only white native grape variety of the Langhe region! It was once primarily used to make sweet wines, mostly for religious purposes, but its beautiful aromatic complexity and longevity make it ideal for a dry white wine. Nascetta originated in the Barolo municipality of Novello and was threatened with extinction. Thanks to the efforts of some local winemakers in the 90s, Nascetta, Anascetta or Anas-Cetta as it is also called, now has a permanent place in the ranks of Langhe grape varieties.
After hand-picking at the end of September/beginning of October, the mash is left on the skins for a few days and then carefully pressed. Fermentation then takes place spontaneously with native yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers. Maturation also takes place in stainless steel tanks and after a short bottle storage, the Diego Conterno 2022 Langhe Nascetta goes on sale.
The result is a delicious and long-lasting white wine that fully expresses the characteristics of its native landscape. The color is a bright, bright yellow. The savory and mineral aromas on the palate are accompanied by notes of citrus, pineapple, sage and rosemary. This Nascetta impresses with its complex aromas, freshness and great balance!
